G. Lee Ramsey Jr. participated in the 2009 Decatur Book Festival on September 5 and the 2009 Southern Festival of Books in Nashville on October 11. For both events, Dr. Ramsey spoke on the topic of his WJK book Preachers and Misfits, Prophets and Thieves: The Minister in Southern Fiction.
David Jensen was promoted to the position of Professor of Constructive Theology at Austin Theological Seminary, effective July 1, 2009. Dr. Jensen is the author of Responsive Labor and The Lord and Giver of Life, both published by WJK.
Timothy B. Cargal was appointed to the position of Interim Associate for Preparation for Ministry and Examinations by the Office of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), effective August 31, 2009. He is the author of Hearing a Film, Seeing a Sermon, published by WJK.
Ronald J. Allen conducted a new preaching workshop at Christian Theological Seminary on August 25, 2009. The subject of the workshop was "Preaching from Labor Day to All Saints'." Dr. Allen is the author of numerous WJK books, most recently The Life of Jesus for Today, which participants received and used during the workshop.
Thomas G. Long participated in the 11th Annual Christian Century Lecture and Workshop in Chicago on September 24 and 25, 2009. He lectured on the topic " 'One Little Word Shall Fell Him': A New Moment for Pulpit and Public Rhetoric," and conducted a workshop, with Thomas Lynch, on "Good Death, Good Grief, Good Funerals." Dr. Long is the author of several WJK books, including The Witness of Preaching, Preaching from Memory to Hope, and Accompany Them with Singing—The Christian Funeral.
Wonhee Anne Joh, author of WJK's Heart of the Cross, participated in a one-on-one interview about the life and theology of Dr. Jürgen Moltmann as part of an online and DVD video from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. You can watch the interview by clicking here.
Kwok Pui-lan has won the 2009 Award for Excellence in Teaching from the American Academy of Religion (AAR). The award recognizes the importance of teaching and honors outstanding teaching in the field. She is also one of two candidates for Vice President of AAR this year. Dr. Pui-lan is the author of Postcolonial Imagination & Feminist Theology and coeditor of Off the Menu: Asian and Asian North American Women's Religion and Theology, both published by WJK.
